Terms of service
What this service is
Certline is a diagnostic tool. When you type a hostname, it opens a TLS connection to that hostname, reads the certificate the server presents, and displays the result. The tool answers when you ask and does not store, log, or retain any data after the response is sent.
What this service is not
- Not a monitoring service — there are no scheduled re-checks, alerts, or email notifications
- Not a certificate authority — it does not issue, sign, or validate certificates
- Not a security scanner — it checks only the hostname you type and does not scan, enumerate, or probe beyond that
- Not a compliance tool — it does not claim compliance with any standard, certification, or audit regime
- Not a data storage service — it has no accounts, no user profiles, no saved history, no database
Acceptable use
You agree to use Certline only to check hostnames you own or have permission to query. You may not use the service to:
- Launch denial-of-service attacks or excessive requests
- Scan or enumerate hosts, ports, or subdomains
- Attempt to extract information about the service's infrastructure
- Violate any applicable law
No accounts, no data storage
Certline does not offer accounts, logins, subscriptions, or any form of user registration. No personal data is collected, stored, or processed beyond what is necessary to respond to a single request (the hostname you type, which is immediately discarded). There is no way to create an account, save a check, or set up recurring checks.
Billing
Current services are free. The Certline web tool at /app is available at no charge. No payment information is required and no payment processor is connected to this site. There is nothing to bill for today.
Future paid plans. An API tier for programmatic access is planned but not yet available. When it launches, this section will be updated with the actual price, billing period (monthly or annual), payment method requirements, what happens on a failed payment, and the refund policy. Until then, no money changes hands and no billing obligations exist.
No payment processor. Because no payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) is connected, the site cannot accept real payments. The checkout form on the pricing page is a demonstration mockup — it does not process, store, or transmit any payment information.
Availability
This service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. The operator makes no guarantees about uptime, response time, or accuracy of results. The certificate report is a direct readout of what the server presented — it does not validate trust, chain correctness for any specific client, or compliance with any standard. If the server presented an incomplete chain, the report says so; it does not mean the certificate is invalid for all clients.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use this service. Because the service checks hostnames you supply, you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to query those hosts.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. No separate notification will be sent — there is no email system and no accounts to notify.
Governing law
No governing law or jurisdiction is specified because no legal entity has been registered. The operator must supply a jurisdiction before this term takes effect.
